Following the highly popular theme of dark fantasy and supernatural themes, Tokyo Ghoul is about a world where flesh eating creatures resembling humans (who have inhuman strength and incredible regenerative abilities) are living secretly among society. The novel follows a young, introverted college student, Ken who is attracted to Rize. As it turns out, Rize is a ghoul, and in a fatal attack, a doctor implants Rize’s regenerative organs into Ken’s body in order to save his life. Ken, now a ghoul, meets two ghouls who own a coffee shop and help him adjust to the ghoul society as well as keeping his secret from the humans.

The story is about a middle school student, Shoyo Hinata, who is inspired to become the next best volleyball player after his idol championship superstar, “Little Giant”. Despite being short and not having any real experience in volleyball, Shoyo joins his school volleyball club, only to be brutally beaten by the “King of the Court”, Tobio Kageyama. Shoyo makes it his sole purpose to beat his new rival but coincidentally, when he joins a new volleyball team, Tobio, happens to also be on the same team, and they have to learn to work together.

3. Demon Slayer

4. The Promised Neverland
This fantasy manga is also one you must read if you liked Demon Slayer or Tokyo Ghoul. Set in the year 2045, the manga tells the story of a world where humans and demons are living in co-existence due to an agreement made over 1000 years ago called, “The Promise”. This agreement set out the rules that humans and demons would live in their own separate worlds, as long as there were human breeding farms that were set up to feed the demons. The human farms, disguised as orphanages, would breed children until they reached a certain age or intelligence level, which would make them ready to be sent out to become demon food. As they begin to find out the farm’s dark secret, the humans secretly concoct a plan to escape.
5. My Hero Academia
This manga focuses on a young boy, Izuku Midoriya, who lives in a world where around 80% of the human population have “quirks,” which are special powers unique to each individual. Those who use their quirks for selfish reasons are the villains in society, with “heroes” being the ones who fight these evil villains. Izuku, who never developed his quirk, dreams of becoming a hero and idolises the top hero, All Might. Unbeknownst to the public, All Might has a critical injury he has been hiding. After seeing Izuku’s willingness and fearlessness in the midst of danger, All Might decides to pass his quirk onto Izuku, allowing Izuku to apply to U.A. High School, an academy for heroes. Little does Izuku know that the villains are planning to attack...
